Avocado beer. Do you dare to try it?

In a Mexican carne asada you can't miss 3 essential things: a good steak, beer and avocado. Can you imagine if you could combine the last two options in one? Well, this is already a reality, avocado beer exists.

Meet Avocado Ale

In Los Angeles, California, the Angel City Brewery got to work and experimented with different blends and green gold, the delicious avocado. Creator Dieter Forstner was inspired by his family, who harvested this fruit in his childhood.

Avocado has such a versatile and characteristic flavor that it can be combined in dishes, snacks and even beer. This beer also has cilantro, lime, garlic and dried chile for a completely different experience for your palate.

Just like avocado, this beer has a special time of the year for production, which is the month of August when the California Beer Festival is held.

How do you brew avocado beer?

In several interviews with the people in charge of Angel City Brewery, they talked about how this curious avocado drink was made:

  • Dry “hopping” technique: consists of adding more aroma to the beer by adding dry hops after fermentation.
  • Dry “guancing” process: consists of adding avocado to the top of the tank in which the beer is brewed.

"For starters, avocado doesn't have a lot of flavor. That's why texture plays a bigger role in this beer. We're looking for a very creamy mouthfeel," said Layton Cutler, the brewery's manager. And you, would you dare to try it?
